Former Vanderbilt professor, Dr. Carol Swain, is hosting a book signing after the release of her new book about Critical Race Theory. Her new book, Black Eye for America, How Critical Race Theory is Burning Down the House, is an Amazon best seller.
At the signing, she will be giving a presentation on Critical Race Theory as well as signing new books and taking questions from attendees. The signing will be held at “Brentwood’s iconic Puffy Muffin Bakery and Restaurant this Saturday, August 21st at 3pm,” according to a press release.
Dr. Carol Swain said, “I co-authored Black Eye for America with Dr. Christopher Schorr to challenge the Marxist philosophy of CRT because it is historically inaccurate and causes division—pitting black against white. As a black woman that has lived the American dream, I look forward to meeting those at this book signing that are interested enough to do their research and teach the truth about the greatness of our imperfect union, called the United States of America. ”
Swain, an author, political commentator, and public speaker, went on to state that, “The book explains what CRT is, where it came from, and why it is un-American. It runs counter to our Constitution as well as civil rights laws. It’s the civil rights issue of our day, and we have to fight back against it in the same way we joined forces during the civil rights movement of the 1960s.”
Her book is endorsed by several conservative leaders including PragerU’s Dennis Prager and Dr. Ben Carson. Swain’s book touches on how “Critical Race Theory is used as a weapon to indoctrinate Americans—especially our school children—based on the color of their skin.”
According to her press release, “Black Eye for America, published by Be The People Books, will be on sale at the Puffy Muffin. The Puffy Muffin is located at 229 Franklin Rd, Brentwood, TN 37027.”
Swain came under fire about six years ago after over two thousand alumni and students from Vanderbilt called upon her to be suspended for her teaching position for “bigotry, intolerance, and unprofessionalism.” The signees of a Change.org petition from 2015 were asking the university to investigate her and to work with the American Civil Liberties Union to create and implement mandatory diversity training for Swain and others to participate in.
